India Bleeds as the Shamless Government Watches..

Nov 28 : In what can only be termed as "barbaric" and "dastardly", terrorists have again struck mumbai ,the heart and pride of india.A very well coordinated and executed plan resulted in death toll over 125 innocent people including high ranking police officers and Civilians .My deepest condolences with the people who lost their near and ear ones. what is the government doing and why did mr.Deshmukc resign. No i dont want him to resign..i want him to stay and answer my questions. Why was the police constable carrying a 303 enfield rifle (they are of World war-1 legacy) when the terrorists have access to MP5 and Kaleshnikovs. How can any one feel secure as my coast guard and navy were fast asleep when over 200Kg of TNT and 10 Merchants of Death sailed into my own land unnoticed. Come sir please wake up.We dont want statements of refrain from you ,we want action. Its time you react ...

Joy......What is it

8:45 PM on a friday ...working our A** off to meet some deadlines and trying our best to avoid weekend work ....
Apurv was not in his general moods....his girlfriend was getting married to some one else (intelligent girl :-)).
i go to him and ask ....whats the matters.....
He raises his head in a total filmy style ..murmers some of those "Iam lost in love looser" dialogues ....then suddenly raising his voice pitch, slams the desk and says "what is joy....i demand to know ..what ...what is Joy"...
i was like "erm ..what"..."joy"....
...pat came the reply ...

"thats how the bengalis pronounce Jai" ..

hehehehehehehehehehehehhehehehehe .... :-)

Whitening Creams ....Racism in a Bottle

"Marhaba Beauty Parlour...dark skin is a thing of the past ....become fair skinned in just 8 sittings" ....this was a sign i read in one of the many beauty saloons for women in some localities of hyderabad...i wonder if the india obsession with white or Fair skin would ever end.but i feel this is a global phenomenon and viewing it from an indian perspective would not help.
A quick look at the matrimonial columns of any news paper, all that you would see are ads asking for fair ,tall and good looking brides.Agreed that no one would want to marry a fat-short -dark one.But one has to wonder as how this obsession with skin colour has been converted into a market.Major cosmetic and FMCG companies have come out with a wide range of skin whitening creams for both sexes.Whitening creams for men..this is the height mann...
i guess the concept of "Tall-dark-handsome" is now a thing of the past.now its "does matter-fair-MBA ..." .

Badday..huppy ..badday

yes ...16th july ..its her birthday ....and i need to get a birthday present ...but what ???....the very idea of Shopping for a women sends chills down my spine ... i suck at shopping in general and my sucking capabilities are enhanced further when i shop for women ..ehehehheh...i remember having been attributed with all possible gaalees under the sun when i gifted a pair for Nike Sneakers to my sis on her birthday ...okay ..i suck ...i suck then anyone else or rather worst in the entire histroy of sucking when it comes to shopping for gifts ...it was 3 years ago and it was my good sis(who exchanged those sneakers for a pair of Cargo trousers ) ....but now this is she ....she is the Girl you see...my ever active brains cells stop working the moment she is around....in desparation i took the liberty of consulting my collegues at work for advice ...now in retrospect feel that was one of the biggest mistakes in my life...like chetan bhagat i now feel i should also write about all the three mistakes of life ... one of other two being the very idea of reading that book i must confess ...we shall come to the third one some time later...so i was saying that i consulted my collegues for a suitable birthday pesent for a girl...follwing are the excerpts from the experiences i had ....

8.45 AM : I enter my adopted home ...my cubicle i mean ....

9:30 AM : My lady collegue Neha comes over with that ever glowing smile ...she sure needs to try her luck at those tooth paste ads ...

9:35 AM : i ask Neha..what would she want her boy friend to gift her on her birthday ..assuming that she had one.....well... she gave me that .."abey o teri maa behan nahi hai kya ...apney collegue pe line martey sharam nahi aati" ...in short ...how groose this fellow is hitting on me ... i was all like come on...me hitting on Colgate Toothpaste girl ...naaah... i explained her the entire story ....

10.00 AM : I finished my sad story only to be advised to get something like a diamond ring or something ....i was like ....come on ..its just her b'day ...iam not marrying her now ....

10.30 AM : for half hour i decide to take refuge of pretending to be working on something ...but my ever active grey cells would not give in ....

11: 00 AM : An armada of my co-wokers is seen slowly moving towards my cube .....slowly they were inching their way ...i could hear battle cries in my mind ...i could not understand a thing....my eyes were glued to the internet desperatly searching something birthdayee for her....

11:15 AM : There is silence ...oooooooooooooooooooooooooooo......6 confused faces were staring at me with the look of some Nazi interrogator....i was so scared that i would have confessed anything..but the problem was ... i didnt know what they wanted ....

11:16 AM : The silence breaks and Ajai ..the hunk ...says ...so you buying a present for your girl friend aah...

11:17 AM : well now my little secret was no more secret than George bush being the president of US.... i never told any one ...my left part of brain answered the questions raised by the right one ...ohh by the way ...yes its official i now have a fully functional brain ...still....

11:20 Am : I stood up confused and with a smile on my face .."what are you talking about ..what girl friend" and internally wondering how come the folks in the 3 floor would know about things on the 7th... only to realise the truth of life ...which is ...the fastest way to spread a message is not

Tele-gram Nor Tele-phone
its gotta be
Tell-a-Women....

11:25 AM : After some intense speculation some other collegues started off with their own interpretations ....

Avinash said ....."Is it some one at work ....is it Anika from the Finance team ...i always thought she had a thing for you....or Is it Pooja from from Marketing" .......does not matter both are hot ...
Suddenly Anjali popped her head out and with her trade mark chuckle said ...."i dont think
she is some one in the office ....i see him leave office early these days(with an expression of "very unlike him") and park his Car outside the Mckinsey office ....
Sanjay joined by saying ....."Good job tiger ...Mckinsey haa...."

11:35 AM : Activity resumes in my brain as i start figuring they are pointing at...
Come on guys ...we just went out for coffee a couple of times ...and its her birthday so ifugred out its good a gift her something nice ....

11:36 AM : something niceee....they are repeated ....

11:40 AM : hahaha....the laughter subsided and the armada slowly vapourised into their own bunkers ...

11:45 AM : All said and done i was still searching for gift .....

Life of a Stranger

Stranger than fiction is life my friend
joys and sorrows are the seasons of the sun
travelled to farthest of lands, i tell stories of sort
for its only masks of emotions we wear and we sport

In winters of sadness i seek the warmth of hope
that the summers of joy are not far along
Happiness and sorrow are the chioces we brought
Wisdom of life is in this Lovely thought.

I travelled in summers when the earth was so green
Wonders i had seen in the lands i had been
I lead the life of a stranger, unnerved and alone
the lands beyond the blue horizons is what i so long.

Came the winters i shivered in the cold
withered were the trees and white were the roads
saw the sledges cross the frozen lakes i had
the white widow has taken the world i was told

Came the summers when i rejoiced
as day was longer and folks happier
i am traveller , lonely and alone, so shall walk and run
for the blue hoizons i seeked are far and further

Days of our lives - I

"Hello ...iam Madhu.. ,i shall be guiding you to the room..this way sir...you may hand that suitacase to me....Madhu was a probably in his early teens with tired but dreamy eyes .I was told that its not strange to find such young boys volunteering as helpers in this small village. It was a small but beautiful travel retreat called the Ashram...this one was named Navabharath Ashram. I had come to write an article on a local legislator who had come into news recently for making an entire coastal village self sufficient and alcohol free via micro financing and social awareness. Manjayya, that name struck a chord somewhere .What a strange name,i wondered but i was too tired that night and went to sleep quickly.

"Good morning Sir, hope you had a good sleep.I brought you breakfast. Please call out my name when you are ready and we can go out to visit the town".He sounded more enthusiastic and spirited and the night i met him.I finished my breakfast and we set out for a short stroll into the town to visit the man i had come to see.Madhu was an inquisitive lad with a lot of questions and i had all the time in world to answer them all .From what i do ,why i do and how i do the work and job i do .One question led to another and the discussion continued till we reached a modestly tiled roofed house ,typical of south Indian villages .Madhu asked me to wait and he went inside the house .In about 2 mins he emerged out with another man. It was a man probably in late 30s with short, lean, dark structure and clad in a white dhoti and a sleeved vest.

"Hello Mr.Sharma ,sorry i was not expecting you so early in the morning, how was your journey and hope you had a good sleep last night". This extremely polite and hospitable person was none other than the guy i had come to meet all the way from the US. Manjayya, was unlike anything i had imagined.I had pictured him to be a dress and behave like an Indian politician. But i did not find such thing from this guy.He asked me to wait for a while and went inside. He asked me if it was possible to talk while he would take a stroll into the town. The discussion i had with him that day left an indelible impression on me ....

Manjayya or Manjunatha Shastry , hailed from a small time country side of the Indian state of Andhra pradesh.Born into a family of a poor priest, Manjayya was the first of in a family of 3 children. It was difficult for the manjayya`s father to serve the family of 3 children and sick wife from the paltry sum he made as salary from the small temple in the village. To meet the ends manjayya`s father migrated to the city of Hyderabad. His father with no source of income to suport his family of 5 and a sick Wife ,took up a job at the local construction site as a daily wage labour. This was something very Demeaning for someone born in the high class Priest Caste. Unable to make the end meet his mother also joined the construction site earning a paltry sum.The hazardous working conditions and deplorable sanitation of the refugee camp like slum and added malnutrition had taken the toll on his already sick parents. His mother soon caught Tuberculosis and was mostly on bed for the entire time. This had made the things worse as medication was not in reach and even it were, was too costly to afford for such a poor family. His mother succumed to Tuberculosis and died soon .Manju was only 9.He left school to help his father at the construction site. His father had by now got addicted to arrack and would spend away all his money on it .Too ashamed to aks for alms as his brahmin upbringing would not let them, manju and his siblings went hungry for days.Manju continued to work at the construction site and was often not paid by the construction supervision Salim and his henchmen ,who warned him of dire consequences if he ever raised voice against them.Manju through his diligence at work soon earned a good name with the Site engineer Sandeep mukherjee.Sandeep would encourage him to take the night tutions at his make shift home near the construction site, where we used to teach to the other construction labourers.
